Getting older
Today, I’m a year older. Not sure whether I can still claim to be in my mid-20s, but I’ll cling to that badge anyway. The cliché about only being as old as you feel, rings true. For better or worse, I don’t feel dramatically different than I did five years ago.
On the upside, this takes the edge of getting older. I’m pretty sure this sense of nothing changing will hold in 5, 10 years time. Health issues aside, if you always feel like you’re a teenager with decades ahead of you, that’s great.
On the downside, perhaps you won’t be any more certain about what you want to do with your life in 5 years’ time than you are now. Perhaps there’s no age at which you’re finally grown up, with a firm idea of what the future should hold. For anyone open to some unpredictability, and keen to enjoy the ride, I suppose this is no downside at all.
So, yeah. I’m not feeling any older or wiser. But perhaps a review of these posts later down the line will highlight one or two changes. Even if I’m no wiser, hopefully my bank statement will be looking a little less student-like.
